Privacy Policy and Disclosure Statement
The Conservation Council ACT values and respects all individuals and organisations seeking to donate time, money, or resources to our organisation. We understand that you may be concerned about privacy issues that surround the potential use of your personal details by us. We believe that you should have control over who receives your personal information, whether it concerns where you live, what your interests are, or how you choose to conduct transactions. We are focused on only one thing: working with you to find positive and pro-active solutions to environmental problems so that we will have a healthy environment.

Information You Provide Us
The Conservation Council ACT collects information when a member, donor, or volunteer provides us with their personal details. We will ask for certain information, such as name, home or e-mail address, receipting information, and perhaps credit card details - in order to provide a service or information to you. The collected information will be used by us for the purposes of completing your donation, providing you with a volunteer opportunity, or providing you with Conservation Council ACT correspondence (e.g. Sustainable Times). We may also use your personal details to contact you regarding specific appeals for donations in the future. Campaigns within Conservation Council ACT often collect and use information for slightly different purposes. Campaign/ers may contact Conservation Council ACT Members, Donors and Volunteers to offer them the opportunity to have closer involvement with their campaign areas, regional activities and events or to be part of their campaign information networks.

If you provide personal information to us about a third party who is an individual, we ask that you inform the individual concerned of how we will use and disclose the information, and of his or her rights to gain access to and update it, as set out in this Privacy Policy. Information about you that is collected by Conservation Council ACT is held only as long as it is necessary to provide you with the service or information required or until our legal requirement to hold that information expires. Regular reviews of information are conducted and information that is no longer necessary is securely and permanently disposed of.

If you are a regular donor and you request the cessation of monthly donations we will:
- delete the credit card details.
- ask if they would still like to receive periodic donations requests and archive the record if the answer is no.

We will need to keep a record of the donation for seven years for tax reasons, after which we will be able to delete the record completely.

Disclosure of Information
We will not use your personal information for any other purpose which is not related to the service we provide to you or for any other purpose for which you would not reasonably expect us to use the information. Information we collect is kept on a secure database, accessed by a small number of our own staff. We do not give any outside organisations access to it and we will not sell or disclose your personal information to any individual or entity outside Conservation Council ACT for marketing or other purposes.

We may release information about you where:
- there is a duty to the public to disclose that information,
- we are required to by territory or federal law, or
- you authorise us to do so (eg: telling other groups of the activists in the region)
