The Jerrabomberra Wetlands are the most significant wetlands in the ACT.
The new East Lake Urban development will be in close proximity to this important habitat and, as with all new developments, has the potential to affect it’s delicate ecosystem.
A variety of environmental, community and governmental organisations will explain their involvement in the area and discuss what is currently being done to help minimise the threats to the Jerrabomberra Wetlands and its rare and beautiful birds and wildlife.
The Conservation Council is working hard to ensure that the new developments planned to be built around the perimeter of the Jerrabomberra Wetlands will not infringe on the diverse wildlife and flora in the Reserve.
Recently the Conservation Council held a Member Forum which highlighted some of the issues surrounding the Jerrabomberra Wetlands.
Speakers included:
- ACT Planning and Land Authority
- Territory and Municipal Services
- National Capital Authority
- Canberra Ornithologists Group
