What is this OTHERWISE thing all about? OTHERWISE is a project, a movement, a network, an idea. OTHERWISE is about you learning about sustainability and sustainable consumption. It’s about you figuring out what actions you can and want to take to consume so that you have less damaging impact on the environment and promote more equality between people. It’s about how you might want to help your community be more healthy, vibrant, connected, in tune with nature, environmentally friendly and sustainable. It’s about you acting now so that future generations, both here in Australia and around the world, can enjoy clean water, clean air, beaches and oceans and rainforests. It’s about you doing this while learning from and having the support of your peers and your community.
So you want to get involved or find out more? Become part of a growing network of young people in the ACT committed to making positive and sustainable changes to their own lives, and their communities. As an introduction to the network, free Youth in Sustainability workshops are being held for young Canberrans aged 15-25 years. The next open workshop will be held over three consecutive evenings during August 2009. The workshops are designed to educate and inform young Canberrans on sustainability and to inspire them to reduce their individual and community consumption patterns. For more information have a look at us on Wordpress and Facebook. You can also find information on the national project on the RMIT website.
