Discussion and decisions about environmental protection are all too often undermined by fears about protecting "the economy".  This is nowhere more apparent than in the current debates about the need for climate change action not being a priority in the current economic financial crisis.  

But with our ecological footprints, consumption of resources and greenhouse emissions continuing to grow - it is even more critical for us to be challenging the limits of economic growth.
