Campaign Updates

1. Walk Against Warming

The first batch of Walk Against Warming Stickers have been printed. Don’t let your bicycle (or bumper bar) be seen without one! Pick them up from the office.

2. Molonglo Valley

ACT government is planning to develop 3 areas (2 residential, 1 broadacre) in Molonglo Valley. The Conservation Council supports plans to develop burnt pine plantations and degraded agricultural land and provide housing in a relatively central location but are greatly concerned by proposal to extend development further into MV, into the grassy woodlands.
We are supporting plans to developed east Molonglo with dwellings for 55,000 people but do not support residential developments further into the valley (central Molonglo).

There is more information about our campaign on our website www.consact.org.au if you share our concerns then we encourage you to write to your MLAs.

4. Planning

The public is invited to comment on the draft restructured Territory Plan comments close 1 June 2007. The intention of the restructure is for the changes to the plan to be policy neutral with the changes intended to align the structure of the Plan to reflect changes in the new planning legislation to enhance its usability.
